Our visit to Swimbridge - the home and resting place of John Russell

Plymouth to Swimbridge took us 3 hours each way!

A view of Parson John Russells grave
I've always wanted to visit Swimbridge, the home and resting place of Parson John Russell, the man responsible for the Jack Russell breed. Well I've finally managed to get there but we couldn't have chosen a worse day! The weather was absolutely atrocious!
It took about three hours to get there and when we did Swimbridge was like a ghost town (probably because of the weather!).
After parking up in the Jack Russell Inn's car park, we went to visit the Parsons' grave in the graveyard which is just opposite the pub. He must obviously get quite a few visitors as his grave was signposted in the graveyard. There were no dogs allowed but we carried Reggie and Roxie in anyway and spent a few minutes.

We then went to the Jack Russell Inn and had a coke. The Jack Russell Inn is a very friendly place with lots of interesting pictures, stories and historical accounts on the walls. I've tried to photograph them as best I could but the low lighting and glass frames were a bit of a problem with the glare and reflection.
