How lovely. My old boy was 18 when he died but he hadn't left the house for years. What a great life he must have had to still be active at that age.

Jack Russells really are the easiest dog to look after - all they ask is a warm bed, a kind word, a good meal - and total world domination!

We had an 18 yr old Jack called Twig who we adopted at that age.

We have just adopted a 14 year old Jack Russell. Some have lived til their twenties, Jacks are definitely a long term commitment. xxx

I knew a chap who's 2 JRT made the grand old age of 22 for the mother & 23 for the daughter. Both had been part time working dogs & got plenty of long walks each day, find it amazing age for a dog

The idea of having my lil boy to my late 40's gives me the warmest feeling imaginable. I only hope I can be so lucky! He has matured so much in the 6 months I've had him...can't wait to see the lil man he will become!

My first JR, Roo ( hence my forum name) lived until she was 17and a half. It was only her last three months that she stopped wanting to go for her daily walk. Amazing little dog.... she was the runt of the litter and bought from a pet shop! One of the reasons that I wanted another JR was because they seem to live for such a long time compared to most other breeds.

We adopted an 18 yr old JRT girl called Twig in 2008. I wrote her story on here. Her owner adored her for 18 years but was sadly taken into care, she pleaded for a home to be found and Twig not be pts. We had Twig for only 3 months before she passed, but what a sturdy lovely dog. She definitely gave us the oldie bug. We now have a 14 yr old Jack we rescued off this site, and boy he is lively! He is a real character. Some Jacks live until their twenties.

The dog on the beach story made me smile :-) Our Milo is 14 this year and just lately he's embarrassed me several time by getting "fruity" with bitches he's met during walks........we all call him the dirty old man now as he never did this in his younger days, just goes to show he's feeling full of the joys of spring :-) long may it be the case
