Lola and her belly!

I can see this little dog is going to cause me some sleepless nights!

Over the last few days she has definitely changed shape again, everything seems to have 'dropped' and she is growing so big it's incredible! Last night (Friday) we really thought Lola was starting to whelp. She was incredibly clingy with me, and wouldn't let me out of reach for a second. This is unusual as my daughter Sally who is 18 was around, as was Toby, and Lola generally shares her affection equally! But no, she had to be as close to me as she possibly could at all times.

She was also scratching at cushions, the floor, her bed and kept 'looking' at her belly. We also noticed that her genitals and tail seemed to be twitching a lot (Toby said she was winking!) and she had a jelly like discharge. With this in mind I decided to move Lola's whelping box into the sitting room and sleep on the sofa, just in case!

Bumps in the night!

I was awoken during the night by a thumping on my arm to find Lola laid across it...the thumping was the puppies moving and kicking inside her!

I was delighted and watched her abdomen for an hour as it visibly moved with the pups movements..they must be ready! Morning came and Lola was sprightly, I not so! Today she has been subdued and insisting on getting under various pieces of furniture only to find she's stuck!

I left her at 3pm, with the kids and my partner whilst I went to work, demanding regular updates! I arrived home at 2am to find her bed literally upside down and her quite distressed, looking at her belly and still winking!!

So another night on the sofa (well what's left of it) to see if my midwifery skills are needed!
